Come 2018, customers at King Soopers and City Market stores in Colorado can skip lines with a new mobile checkout app.
Kroger Co. will be bringing its mobile checkout app Scan, Bag, Go to 400 stores across the country, including 34 King Soopers and City Market stores in Colorado. No final decisions have been made on which stores will get the new service. An announcement is said to be made in early 2018. [gallery type="rectangular" size="large" ids="29858,29859,29857"] Scan, Bag, Go works by giving customers the opportunity to skip a majority of the checkout process. Users simply use their phone to scan each of their items as they place it in their cart while shopping. Then, when it's time to check out, the shopper scans a code on their phone at a self-checkout stand. That's it! Pretty simple, right? Please note that in order to use the app customers must have a Kroger Plus Card.
Prior to the expansion to Colorado, the app was tested in 20 stores and ended up being very successful. The mobile checkout app is part of the company's "Restock Kroger" initiative, which wants to use technology and data in order to improve customer experiences.
Adam Williamson, a spokesman for Kroger, said, "We strive to earn our customers' loyalty every day and this will be another great convenience for them."
Kroger is also expanding its ClickList online order and pickup system/home delivery, as well as its own clothing line at some of its stores.
