flu The Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment's flu report for 2017 has been released, and the numbers are staggering. There have been 566 people hospitalized due to the illness, which is more than three times as many people as usual -- the average is typically 150 by mid-December. The state is able to track influenza-like illnesses that are reported at clinics and hospitals, as well as through pediatric deaths, though no deaths have been reported thus far. There's no explanation of what is causing the numbers to be as high as they are. Some attribute the influx of influenza to all of the international travel to and from Colorado, especially around the holidays.
