Go fish! You can fish for free, June 2-3, all across the state thanks to Colorado Parks and Wildlife's annual Free Fishing Weekend.

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned fisherman, you don't want to miss out on the opportunity to get in some quality time on the water. From June 2-3, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is offering budding fishermen of all ages to cast a line and fish for free! That's right, you won't need a license to fish in Colorado this weekend! Although, entry fees will still apply. Every year, Colorado Parks and Wildlife hosts Free Fishing Weekend, and its two main goals are A) to introduce more people to the sport of fishing and B) to get people outside and enjoy the beautiful summer weather. There are plenty of options for all of your fishing needs -- Colorado is home to about 2,500 lakes and reservoirs. In fact, Colorado Parks and Wildlife has put together an atlas of all the lakes and reservoirs that are available for the free weekend, including Grand Lake, Dillion Reservoir, and Horsetooth Reservoir, among others.
They've also put together a list of "101 Places to Take a Kid Fishing" if you're interested in spots the entire family can enjoy! And if you're a novice fisherman, below is a "quick tip" video to help you set up a rod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mn9FmUe2TLo Before you hit the water, it's important to keep in mind that even though a license is not required this weekend, all of the rules and regulations will apply. If you have specific questions, feel free to contact Colorado Parks and Wildlife at 800-244-5613. What do you think? Will you be taking advantage this weekend?
