Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's baby boom continues with the arrival of a baby Sumatran orangutan!
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has had a huge baby boom this summer -- with the arrival of
six Mexican wolf pups, the zoo's
200th giraffe calf, and now a baby Sumatran orangutan.
Sumagu gave birth at 9:28 p.m. on June 6, and while zoo officials have yet to announce the sex of the baby or any other details, they reassure that both mom and baby are healthy and doing well. If you would like to visit Sumagu and her baby, you can find them in their regular exhibit in Primate World.

According to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Sumatran orangutans are critically endangered due to non-sustainable palm oil production that's "fueling destruction of the rainforest habitat Sumatran and Bornean orangutans."
