On May 25, Centennial Airport will celebrate its 50th anniversary. And who better to headline the event than Captain "Sully" Sullenberger, the "Miracle on the Hudson" pilot.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Centennial Airport. Its history and impact to the local community -- through aviation and aerospace scholarships and more -- deserves to be recognized. And there's no man better to headline the luncheon than pilot, author, and safety expert Captain "Sully" Sullenberger. "From humble beginnings in 1968, Centennial Airport has grown to become one of the most respected, premier business airports in the nation," said Robert Olislagers, chief executive officer at Centennial Airport, in a press release. "... and being able to celebrate 50 years of aviation excellence with Captain Sullenberger, who exemplifies excellence in aviation, is a fitting tribute to not only the airport, but to all who have made our success possible." When: May 25 | 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Where: Denver Marriott Tech Center | Rocky Mountain Event Center
Individual tickets are available for $250 and do include a meal. There are also five sponsorship levels, which can be viewed here. All ticket proceeds will go towards funding the Centennial Airport Foundation's future aviation and aerospace scholarships. On January 15, 2009, Sullenberger became a world-renowned hero when he, along with his flight crew, safely navigated US Airways Flight 1549 into the Hudson River during an emergency water landing. This ended up being the inspiration behind the 2016 Oscar-nominated film Sully, directed by Clint Eastwood and starred Tom Hanks in the role of Sullenberger. What do you think? Will you be attending the 50th anniversary luncheon? Have you seen the movie Sully? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below, and we can get the conversation started!
