Starting today, vehicles are now allowed on the bridge in order to keep up with social distancing practices.

If you're looking to get out of the house for a little while, there's no better place than the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park in Southern Colorado. However, if you're worried about practicing proper social distancing, fear not!

Starting May 1, the bridge will open up to drivers—the first time since 2013—after being closed for several weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Royal Gorge Bridge will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day.

"To comply with the State of Colorado’s Safer at Home orders, guests must remain in their vehicles with no stopping whatsoever. There will be no access to buildings including restrooms," states the park's website.

Guests will only be able to purchase tickets via a no-touch credit card kiosk upon arrival or online. Admission is $20 per car; season passes will also be honored. Only passenger cars, motorcycles, SUVs, and minivans that hold eight people or less will be allowed to cross the bridge.

Located about 12 miles from Canon City, the Royal Gorge Bridge is the highest suspension bridge in the United States, standing at 955 feet above the Arkansas River.
