The water fun is on for 2021!

While Busch Gardens Williamsburg opened for several limited capacity events toward the middle of 2020, its sister park, Water Country USA, remained closed. Well, it's time to unbundle that bathing suit and pack the beach bag because the park has just announced its 2021 opening date.

Water Country USA will open on May 22. Guests can enjoy thrilling water slides, splashy kids’ attractions, fun food and drink options, and much more (with limited capacity and lots of social distancing guidelines, of course). Check out the thrills of the Cutback Water Coaster, Virginia’s first hybrid water coaster, or the quiet luxury of a reserved cabana or lounger.

The park has implemented increased cleaning and sanitation protocols, temperature checks, and other strict health and safety measures. Like Busch Gardens, reservations will be required and capacity will be significantly limited to create more open space for guests to observe physical distancing both in the line and around the park.

Face coverings will be required for guests age 2 and older in designated areas such as the park entrance and exit, retail and food areas, and other spots. Masks will not be required while actually in the water, like the lazy river, wave pool, water slides, and other water attractions.

Kevin Lembke, president of Busch Gardens and Water Country USA, said in a statement, “We’re so excited to be reopening Water Country USA this May. We know our fans missed coming to the park last year. We can’t wait to welcome guests back for summertime fun.”

Tickets for Water Country USA start at $46.99. Tickets must be purchased online in advance. The Fun Card is available this season for $66.99. This allows you access to the park for the season (you do still have to make a reservation with an annual pass/Fun Card). You can also choose to go with the 2-park pass and enjoy Busch Gardens as well.
