The Virginia State Fair is planning its comeback in 2021!

With a theme of “The Best of Virginia, Together Again,” the Virginia State Fair is planning its comeback. Everybody’s favorite annual event took a year off in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization just announced the event is currently planned for September 24 to October 3 at the Meadow Event Park in Doswell, Virginia.

Though it did hold a Food Fair Weekend in 2020 (with part of the proceeds going to the State Fair of Virginia Scholarship Program), it wasn’t the usual day of fair fun and games we’ve all come to know and love.

Fair-goers in 2021 can once again enjoy fair food and beverages (can you say cotton candy, funnel cakes, elephant ears, and frozen lemonade?), rides, games, and farm exhibits such as sheep, ducklings, goats, horses, cows, and more. There will also be many of the usual competitive events, livestock shows, and craft exhibits.

We can probably expect to have many of the social distancing and safety protocols we’ve come to know over the past year, including face masks, possible limited capacity, and lots of hand-sanitizing stations throughout. No word has been given on this topic as of yet. Really though, we're just happy to hear that one of our favorite Virginia events is back.

Visit the State Fair of Virginia website for all the latest information on fair events, tickets, and more. You can also check out the State Fair Facebook page for up-to-date information and announcements.
