If leaf-peeping is on your list of things to do, then head to Massanutten and try their autumn chairlift.

The iconic Virginia resort isn't just for winter sports! Now that fall has kicked it into high gear, you may be looking for a way to see Virginia's dazzling fall colors.

Just imagine the incredible photos you'll get from high up in the air as you climb up the mountain from the comfort of the lift. We're headed right into peak season, so plan on going before October 30, when the autumn chairlift stops running.

Before or after your ride, there are plenty of other things to do at the resort. Have a delicious meal in one of the restaurants, go hiking, practice your wildlife photography, or stay overnight and make a weekend of it. There's even a spa for those who are serious about their relaxation. Just be sure to book spa services in advance.

If you're taking I-66 from the Beltway, the resort is just over 100 miles away. The last portion of the route takes you right by the Shenandoah National Park so even the drive out there will be a fun family bonding experience.

Know before you go:

  • Tickets are available for purchase at the resort, but you get a $3 savings if you buy them online ahead of time.
  • There is a 36" height requirement for all riders, with no exceptions.
  • Chairlift rides originate at the Ski Lodge on Lift 4.
