The haunted attraction has changed the way it operates to comply with COVID-19.

Indoor haunted houses may be a no-go this year, but one of Maryland’s longest-running Halloween attractions is switching things up to serve those who want a good scare.

Field of Screams, located in Olney, Maryland, is one of the largest haunted attractions in the DMV. To comply with COVID-19 restrictions, the indoor haunted house will be closed and the outdoor haunted trails will be combined into one large attraction. Each 50-minute “tour” will accommodate six people through timed tickets that must be purchased online. 

If you have never been to the notoriously scary haunted attraction, don’t worry; it’s just as scary as before coronavirus. Visitors to Field of Screams will walk down an outdoor trail and encounter two different scary scenes, the Haunted Trail and the Trail of Terror. First you’ll come upon a campground where unsuspecting campers met an untimely death. Next, you’ll come upon something even more sinister, the lair of a serial killer. The trail features scary scenes and live actors, all instructed to stay at least six feet away at all times.

Tickets for Field of Screams must be purchased in sets of six for $250. Parties can be smaller than six people, but the same price applies. Scare parties will arrive at Field of Screams and wait in distance groups fireside until their group is called. Visitors must go through metal detectors and show a digital ticket, making the entire experience touch-free.

Field of Screams is open Friday–Sunday, from October 3 to November 7, and Thursdays from October 15 to 29. Each night has a limited number of slots ,and ticket prices will go up the closer it gets to Halloween.
