2018 is coming to a close, and while we here at Our Community Now are excited to see what 2019 has in store, we'd like to take some time to reflect on all of the incredible moments we got to share with you this year!

To say that 2018 has been an insane year would be a massive understatement. This year has had its ups and downs, sure. But it's also been a place for us, for our community, to flourish and learn from one another. So, we've meticulously put together a list, or highlight reel if you will, to celebrate all of the fun we've had together in 2018.

So buckle down as we go back in time to revisit some of our top events, taste tests, and adventures of 2018 -- and we'll see you in 2019!

Our Community Now's Top 6 Events of 2018

We had the opportunity to cover a ton of local and national events this year, and we mean like a ton. But for the sake of time (and energy), we've managed to narrow that extensive list down to a mere six.

PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games
Feb. 9-25

Remember that the Winter Olympics happened earlier this year? You don't? Well, it did. And we've got several articles to prove it ...

During the games, we covered everything from our favorite moments of the Opening Ceremonies to all of the Colorado athletes who won medals to the full event schedule. We even put together our own Winter Olympics Drinking Game!

Rockies Opening Day
April 6

The home opener of the Rockies' 25th anniversary season marked as a huge milestone for the team and state of Colorado. And although it was a snow-filled day (and the Rockies ultimately lost to the Braves), we still enjoyed our trek downtown for all of the pregame parties and festivities.

CEA Day of Action
April 26-27

We were merely a few among the thousands of people who descended upon the Colorado State Capitol in honor of the "Day of Action" protests. Colorado teachers marched and let their voices be heard by lawmakers to provide better education funding and resources, higher-paying teacher salaries, and PERA pension reform.

Denver Comic Con
June 15-17

Denver Comic Con 2018 (now called Denver Pop Culture Con) was a weekend full of celebrity guests, cosplays, comic books, and so much more. It was basically an excuse to come dressed as your favorite superhero or comic book character and meet people who share the same affinity for nerd culture as you do.

Grandoozy Festival
Sept. 14-16

The highly-anticipated, three-day music festival made its debut back in September. Between an estimated 55,000 fans in attendance and musical acts like Stevie Wonder, Kendrick Lamar, and more, Grandoozy was a huge success! We even took some sweet photos at the inaugural music festival, all of which you can view on our site.

The Great American Beer Festival
Sept. 20-22

Back in September, thousands of beer enthusiasts descended upon the Colorado Convention Center for the Great American Beer Festival (GABF). And if you followed our insider's guide to the festival, then you were sure to have an awesome time! Not only did we sample special brews you could only try at GABF, but we also shared some photos from the entire beer-filled weekend.

Our Community Now's Top 6 Taste Test Vids of 2018

We also tried so much food that our stomachs were threatening to burst at the seams. Here are our top six taste tests videos of the year. Seriously, you may gain some pounds just watching us eat all of this food ... Um, sorry, not sorry?

Shake Shack in Denver

We were feeling pretty hungry, so what better way to cure our grumbling bellies than to head over to the new Shake Shack location in Denver? This location had special, one-of-a-kind burgers that you can only get in Colorado (a green chile cheeseburger!).

Snooze in DTC

Snooze opened its ninth location in the Denver metro location in May of this year, and we were there to check it out and taste the food for ourselves. It also marked as an extra special occasion, too, because two of us were first-timers! So we just had to try some of their delicious mimosas. (It just wouldn't be brunch without 'em, right?)

Sonic's Pickle Slush

Sonic's Pickle Juice Slush made its big debut over the summer, and yes, it's just as disgusting as it sounds. Some of us were okay with it, and others of us were, well, let's just say less than impressed. Actually, you know what? We'll let our reactions speak for themselves ...

Bizarre Soda Flavors

We like to push ourselves and test our limits here at Our Community Now. But after trying one bizarre soda flavor after another, we wanted to throw up. It also probably didn't help calm our aching stomachs and taste buds when we combined all of the disgusting soda flavors into one nasty concoction. Ah, well. Live and learn, right?

Strange Candy Cane Flavors

Just when we thought the bizarre flavors stopped at sodas, we (somehow) managed to find these equally disgusting flavored candy canes. And, well, we just had to try them.

Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING

Every fall there's a huge influx of pumpkin spice-flavored foods and drinks that seem to come out of nowhere. And we had the bright idea of indulging in basically all of them. #Basic?

Our Community Now's Top 6 Adventures of 2018

Between llama hikes, fishing trips, day trips, train rides, and more, there's a helluva lot of adventures to be had than just skiing and snowboarding. Don't believe us? Take a look at our top six adventures of 2018 below.

Hiking with Llamas

Interested in having some four-legged company while you take in Colorado's beautiful views? Go hiking with llamas! It's a new trend that sprung up over the summer, and it's absolutely brilliant. Not only do the llamas do all of the heavy lifting, but they make great travel companions.

Hit the Water and Fish

We played hooky for a day and got out of the office for some much-needed downtime. So, we did the most relaxing activity we could think of -- we went fishing! And thanks to Ron Lowry of Lowry Outdoor Adventures, we managed to reel in some walleyes and rainbow trouts over the four-hour expedition! It was a great way to relax and try new experiences.

Our Colorado State-cations (aka Day Trips)

If you're itching to get out of Denver for an afternoon, we've managed to put together quite the list of day trips that'll give you the adventure you're searching for. Want to walk where the dinosaurs roamed? Visit Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. Looking for a little peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city? Try Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. Interested in trying a new snowy adventure? Go to Devil's Thumb Ranch.

All Aboard for Train Adventures

Railroads are a huge part of Colorado history. Trains traversed the state and tied together our communities and economies from the start, making it possible to cross both the plains and the Rocky Mountain terrain. You can enjoy some of our preserved history through a number of events running all year long, including the holiday season.

Chill with Some Kangaroos

Hidden away in Golden is Zoo Chateau, a place where your dream of being a zookeeper can finally come true. This kangaroo farm offers a one-of-a-kind experience you can't get anywhere else in Colorado!

Visit a Haunted Ghost Town

Did you know that Colorado is home to one of America’s best-preserved ghost towns? Welcome to St. Elmo. Its rich history attracts tourists every year from all over the world. And while there are a few souls who live year-round in the St. Elmo area, the ghost town has more full-time residents than meets the eye.

Annnnd that's a wrap! Thanks for an incredible 2018, Colorado!

Also, don't forget to share your favorite Our Community Now memory with us in the comments.
